Good evening!

I hope that all of our students and families are healthy and safe, and are enjoying this unexpected time together. I am calling/writing to provide updates on some specific information pertaining to Tye River students - Quarter 3 report cards, Spring pictures and yearbooks, Barn Hill Reserve refunds, 5th grade celebration, and instructional information.

Quarter 3 report cards were mailed to students' home address by Monday, March 23rd. Please watch for these in the mail. If you have not received your child’s report card, email Mrs. Bradt or Mr. Makulowich (email information is on our school website).

Students took individual spring pictures and class pictures earlier in March. Lifetouch, which is the picture company, is currently closed due to the Governor’s orders. Students’ individual pictures can be ordered online by accessing their website At this time, the company and plant are scheduled to return on April 24th. They will restart production at that time; however, delays are expected due to the closure and a backlog of pictures to be printed. They have assured us that they will deliver pictures as soon as they can. Lifetouch also works with our school to create our yearbook. Our yearbooks will be available some time in June. More information will be shared on both spring pictures and yearbooks once we have more details. Please send at-home-learning pictures to Mrs. Bryant. Her email address is:

We were extremely excited to have Barn Hill Reserve visit with Tye River and so sad that this had to be canceled. Many of you sent in money to have your child’s picture taken with an animal. All of this money will be refunded to you as soon as it is safe for us to return. For further questions, feel free to email Mrs. Thompson at

We are anxious to celebrate and honor our 5th grade students for their elementary school accomplishments. We are brainstorming on how to do this and awaiting guidelines from the state and federal governments to make plans. It is our intent to host some type of celebration with our students and families in the future. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you informed of future plans.

Lastly, please know that Nelson County Public School’s administrative team is working diligently on our instructional plan to fulfill the requirements of the 2019-20 school year. In the meantime, Nelson County Public Schools will continue to hand out instructional packets and meals on Wednesdays at the Nelson Middle School and High School complex. Please know that the instructional packets do not contain any new material at this time. Updates on the instructional plans and materials will be provided after Spring Break.

Take care and stay healthy!
